This shipment was made just a couple of months prior to the surrender of Japan at the end of WWII and further research could likely disclose the mission of this organization in China. Military which infiltrated agents and groups of agents behind the lines to organize resistance and disrupt enemy supply lines.

The organization to which the shipment was made, the O.S.S., was the Office of Strategic Services, the forerunner to the modern day CIA.

The mainspring housing is serrated with 8 ribs, the slide lock is serrated, the hammer has the Rem Rand style checkering, etc. All of the various parts appear to be correct for a Remington Rand pistol in this serial range (NO. 45 automatic that was manufactured during WWII in late 1944. Accompanied by one “R” code full blue military magazine and an orig Remington Rand WWII Kraft colored shipping box with cosmoline paper on inside. Heres a nice Remington Rand Model 1911A1 U.S. Mounted with full checkered, brown plastic grips with donuts that have a “K” inside a star with reinforcements on inside.
